Heartfelt Brachot - Series by Rav Johnny Solomon
There is a category of brachot which I refer to as ‘Heartfelt Brachot’ that are intrinsically rooted in our subjective feelings and emotions. Though most of the blessings on ‘sight’ fit into this category, the ‘Shehecheyanu’, ‘HaTov VeHaMeitiv’ and ‘Dayan HaEmet’ are undoubtedly the most often used and most widely misunderstood. In this course we will explore these special brachot, discuss the situations that our Sages considered as appropriate times for their recitation, and consider how we balance our loyalty to codified law with the need to be true to our feelings.
