Through focusing on the analysis of the intricate text itself, these integral lessons are fully realized and this will therefore be the method we will employ to learn Sefer Shmuel this year. In the important balance between halachic details and a broad religious vision, we study the halachic facts while also keeping an eye out for the religious ideas behind the details. Well placed tangents help us discover more about the great rabbis of our tradition, their contributions and ideas. Rav Blau is the Rosh Kollel of Yeshivat Shvilei Torah and previously taught at Yeshivat Hamivtar and at the Yeshiva of Flatbush. It is very important for me that there is a wide vision of torah, so that we can see how Torah is truly a part of everything we do. I believe that music and stories are a important part of shiur- in order to connect the ideas we learn to avodat Hashem so that we can bring more kavana and depth into our every day lives . It is also important that students are encouraged to take an active part in the shiur and undergo a growing experience that will help them become their own teachers Rav Yoel FinkelmanIn addition to teaching in Midreshet Lindenbaum, Rav Yoel Finkelman is the Director of Projects and Research at ATID, a Jerusalem foundation that works to develop educational leadership.
