Tamara SpitzTamara Tocker (alumna of 91-92) has been married to Ben-Tzion Spitz for 16 years. They live in Alon Shvut together with their seven children (6 boys and a girl!)
Both Tamara and her husband knew that one day they wanted to move to Israel. Tamara had reached this decision after a trip to Eastern Europe during high school. In January 1997, a month after she graduated Chiropractic school at University of Bridgeport, Tamara and Ben-Tzion made Aliyah. When looking back Tamara says that as there was no such thing as Nefesh B'Nefesh, the beginning was quite challenging. But, in her own words, "after all the bureaucracy was over, we came to Alon Shvut and it's been great ever since. Being in this community is amazing. We are surrounded by many brilliant and talented people. My husband really wanted to be close to a yeshiva and we have that here. It is so wonderful to be involved with the yeshiva and the community as a whole". Some of Tamara's neighbours are her former classmates from Midreshet Lindenbaum.
Tamara is currently working as a chiropractor, specializing in women's health. She has offices in Jerusalem and Alon Shvut. She also teaches and learns daf yomi on her yishuv. They have a group of 8 women who have been learning together for over three years (every day!) Tamara also teaches Gemara and Halacha in a few seminaries as well as Taharat HaMishpacha to Kallot.
In addition, she is a dance teacher in Alon Shvut, where she has started a hip hop class for teens and adults. She was also one of the choreographers of 'Dames of the Dance', a local show featuring the talents of the women and girls of Efrat/Gush Etzion.
Tamara attended Midreshet Lindenbaum in 1991, during the Gulf War, which made it a challenging year. One of the more emotional moments that have been etched in her mind is when it was announced that the war was over and everyone ran into the streets to sing and dance.
